Welcome to Creative Discoveries Preschool,
Salem's only cooperative preschool. We are a parent-operated school, registered with the State of Oregon as a
non-profit organization. Open to the entire community, we serve
children eighteen months to five years of age.
A Cooperative Preschool
Creative Discoveries Preschool is operated by a group of parents who take an active interest in their children’s first educational experience. Parents help the teacher in the classroom and are involved in school decisions and policy-making. Parents are also provided educational opportunities through conferences and parent-education meetings. Famili receive moral support and mutual understanding from other parents with the same concerns, interests and problems – support which often results in life-long friendships.
We offer:
- Nurturing teachers
- A stimulating and safe environment for exploration
- Integrated (cooperative) parent-teacher-child approach
- A place where parents work in the classroom
- Supportive and caring classroom environment

About Our Organization Creative Discoveries Preschool is a member of Parent Child Preschools of Oregon (PCPO)- a non-profit organization of more than 60 cooperative preschools and kindergartens. | Parent Involvement Parent involvement is essential to our program. Two to three parents assist the teacher each day in the classroom as “parent-teachers”. Each family holds a job, works on a committee, or serves on the board of directors. All our families make a commitment to our fundraising efforts. | What CDP Parents are saying "I like being a part of a co-op since every family has a job to do. We work together to make decisions and get to be part of a little community. Here you will find parents who care." |
